Paul’s father died when he was 15. Paul has said that he grew up much faster than other kids as a result of this loss. Paul was a successful lawyer before being elected to the House of Representatives. He was the Republican Party nominee for Vice President of the United States, running alongside Governor Mitt Romney in the 2012 Election. In 2015, Paul was elected Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, one of the highest offices in the country.
